The police in Limpopo have arrested two male suspects aged 34 and 59 for being in possession of illicit cigarettes on Wednesday, 22 November 2023 in Giyani.
It is reported that members of the Provincial VISPOL Task Team received intelligence information about the storage of illicit cigarettes in Giyani Location.
The information was operationalized which led to the arrest of the two suspects in possession of about 431 boxes of
illicit cigarettes with an estimated street value of R200 000-00. Police also seized an undisclosed amount of money believed to be the proceeds from illicit cigarettes trade.
The suspects are expected to appear before Giyani Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 24 November 2023, for possession of illicit cigarettes.
