Tonight, Wednesday, 9 April 2025, the specialists are being deployed to address a hazardous materials incident involving a truck carrying highly flammable substances. Due to the volatile nature of the cargo, precautions are necessary to prevent leaks and ensure public safety.

*Safety Measures*

– Continuous air quality monitoring will be conducted during the response efforts
– The N1 highway will be temporarily closed at the N5/N1 bridge in Winburg to facilitate the operation
– Traffic will be diverted via Theunissen and Kroonstad using R730 and R708 to minimize disruptions

*Road Closures and Diversions*

– N1 closure expected at the N5/N1 bridge in Winburg
– Traffic diversion: Theunissen ? Kroonstad via R730
– Alternative route: Kroonstad ? Theunissen via R730, then R708 back to N1

Updates and Notifications:

– Advance notice will be provided before road closures to minimize traffic delays
