Hijacked truck loaded with goods was recovered in the early hours of yesterday, Tuesday 20 February 2024 at a truck depot in Belfast.

According to information, police received information about a truck that was hijacked in Groblersdal. The truck with double trailers was loaded with wood.

A team consisting of Middelburg Flying Squad members, members from Middelburg K9 Unit and members from Belfast SAPS responded swiftly to the information.

The team managed to recover the truck at the Depot in Belfast. The truck was still intact, with its double trailer loaded with the good as it was during the time it was hijacked.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the recovered truck matched the description of the one that was reported to have been hijacked in Groblersdal. The truck was identified by the owner.

The investigation is underway to ascertain as to how the truck landed at the Depot with the hope to locate the suspects behind the hijacking.

No arrest were made yet and Police urge anyone with information that may assist in apprehending the suspects to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has applauded members of the Police for their efforts and for displaying team spirit.
