Two Zimbabwean nationals, Tinashe Chitsamba (40) and Oscar Mutsetemari (45), appeared before the Mkhondo Magistrate’s Court today for dealing in dagga. The duo were arrested on 04 December 2025 at about 20:35 on the N2 near Mahamba in Mpumalanga.

The Police in Mahamba were on their routine crime prevention patrols on the N2 Road when they stopped a truck with two Zimbabwean Nationals on board and searched it. Police found six big bags of compressed dagga at the back of the truck, and the police enquired about the contraband.

The two men stated that they were traveling from Empangeni and en route to Zimbabwe with the dagga, which they loaded at Tshelejuba, East side of Mahamba from Kwazulu Natal Province.

The duo were then arrested for dealing in dagga, in addition to being illegal immigrants, and the dagga (200kg) with an estimated street value of R1,2 million, was seized. The truck was also confiscated by the police for further investigation.

The suspects have since appeared in court facing the said charges, and they were remanded in custody. The duo will reappear in court on 28 January 2026 pending further investigation.
