VRMED responded to reports of a truck collision on the N1 55km north of Bloemfontein on Thursday afternoon.
On arrival, VRMED crews found that a truck carrying coal had overturned after the driver allegedly lost control.
The driver was found lying on the outside of the vehicle has sustained serious injuries.
Crews quickly stabilized the patient before being transported to Pelonomi hospital by VRMED advanced care paramedic.
