DEDEAT proudly congratulates Pilot Olwethu Mtsewu-Sisilana, a woman and daughter of the Eastern Cape, from Qanda Village in Xesi, who made history by piloting one of the world’s largest container vessels, the 400-meter-long MSC Nicola Mastro, into the Port of Ngqura.

In a world where giants sail, she steered her course with excellence.

Her achievement is more than just a maritime milestone, it’s a bold symbol of what’s possible when women are empowered to lead in sectors like maritime, logistics, engineering, and infrastructure.

From rural roots to global routes, her story proves that the Eastern Cape is not only a gateway to international trade, but also a cradle of world-class talent
