Earlier today, a tragic bus accident occurred on the N2 near Sea Park when a bus from the Eastern Cape, traveling north, allegedly experienced a front left tyre blowout. The bus apparenlty veered across the road, collided with the armco barrier, and plunged down a steep embankment, landing on its roof.
Med~Evac immediately responded and upon arrival, it was determined that 29 passengers had sustained injuries ranging from critical to moderate. Some were entraped and tragically, 4 people lost their lives in the accident. Patients were stabilized on the scene and transported to various medical facilities for further care.
All emergency services were present and worked together on scene. Due to the severity of the accident, the road was closed to ensure the safety of responders and the public.
Our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives, and we wish all the injured a speedy recovery.
