On Monday, 16 March 2026 at 18:45, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Boksburg Precinct Officers, apprehended two (2) male suspects who were found burning tyres in a veld.
During a crime prevention operation, Officers noticed heavy smoke at the corner of Campbell and Cason Streets. Upon investigation, they found two (2) suspects offloading and burning used tyres next to a white Ford rigid truck.
The suspects, aged forty-two (42) and fifty-two (52) were immediately arrested and taken to Boksburg Police Station on charges related to environmental pollution.
The duo is expected to appear at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon. The truck and remaining tyres were confiscated as part of the investigation.
