On Saturday evening, IPSS Medical Rescue responded to reports of a light motor vehicle, which had crashed into a sugar cane truck, on the R102 near Ballito.
One occupant of the light motor vehicle sustained serious injuries, with another luckily escaping with minor injuries.
Patients were stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital for further care.
The truck driver was uninjured in the collision.
