Members of SAPS Limpopo Provincial Organised Crime and Private Security Company arrested two illegal miners aged 33 and 40, during a disruptive operation conducted at Wintervelt (Mahlakwena) dumping site in Burgersfort policing area, on Tuesday, 21 November 2023.
Reportedly, the operation team went to the said area and found a group of people participating in illegal mining activities and upon noticing the Police they dispersed to different directions.
Police arrested two suspects, a driver of tipper truck and operator for illegal mining.
– One Mercedes Benz tipper truck and
– Bell TLB were confiscated.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commends the team and appreciated the support that security companies are providing to the organization. “I believe that as a team we can achieve more, eliminate criminality and protect the minerals of this province”, said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The suspects will soon appear before Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court.
The Police investigations are still continuing.
