Two (2) females from separate vehicles were killed in a collision on the R614 in Upper Tongaat – KZN a short while ago (Thursday).
A motorist contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Tongaat Operations Centre requesting urgent assistance at the scene. On arrival, Reaction Officers discovered a silver Hyundai i10 crushed under a truck transporting sugar cane. A silver Toyota Corolla was found on its side approximately 150 meters away. The drivers of both vehicles were killed.
Emergency Services are currently (15:51) attempting to access the Hyundai i10 to establish if there were any other passengers in the vehicle.
The driver of the truck informed Reaction Officers that both light motor vehicles were travelling in the same direction. The Toyota Corolla collided into the rear of the Hyundai i10 and forced it into the path of the truck that was proceeding in the opposite direction.
