
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) has attended to several complaints of trucks been targeted by copper thieves while in motion or at a standstill at red traffic lights.
One (1) transport company (details withheld) reported that four (4) trucks were disabled this past weekend along the R102 between Umhlanga – KZN & Palmview – KZN. Reaction Officers were informed that the vehicles targeted were articulated trucks with single or double trailers.
The suspects would exit a bush next to a set of traffic lights and snip off cable containing copper. These cables would usually link the trailers to the mechanical horse. One (1) truck had twelve (12) meters of cable stolen after both ends were cut off & removed within a minute by several suspects believed to by drug users.
Partners in Law Enforcement are requested to assist in apprehending these suspects usually operating from bushes along the R102 in Ethekweni – KZN.
