A Hino truck transporting beers was looted after the driver stopped to assist a pedestrian he had run over on George Sewpersad Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN.
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a looting in progress. On arrival, Reaction Officers were advised by the public that the truck ran over a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The public looted crates of beers from the truck after the driver stopped to assist the injured pedestrian. The battery from the vehicle was also stolen. The driver proceeded to the Verulam SAPS prior to the arrival Reaction Officers. The quantity of beer that was stolen could not be immediately established.
The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and was transported privately to a medical facility.
