A 29-year-old man was killed this afternoon after a flatbed truck rear-ended another on the N17 outside of Bethal in Mpumalanga.
ER24 paramedics, along with another service, arrived on the scene and found both the trucks in the left-hand lane of the road. The second truck was found completely smashed against the rear of the first truck.
Upon inspection, paramedics found the body of a man lying trapped inside the truck. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple, fatal injuries.
Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the rear-ended truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
