Two people have been killed and one other critically injured this afternoon after a goods-truck overturned on the R617 in Impendle in KwaZulu-Natal.
ER24 paramedics were called to a clinic nearby after the three patients had been pulled from the vehicle and rushed privately to the clinic.
Upon arrival at the clinic, paramedics found that the man had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene.
Two other patients were found at the clinic, an elderly woman named and her daughter, both in a critical condition.
Paramedics immediately began their treatment of the patients and provided them with several advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, ER24 paramedics transported the elderly woman while Provincial services transported the daughter.
On route to hospital, the elderly patients vital signs diminished and CPR efforts were immediately initiated.
Unfortunately, after 20 minutes, no vital signs returned and the woman was was declared dead at hospital.
The daughter was handed over to hospital staff by Provincial services.
It is believed that the driver lost control of the truck, causing it to overturn.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
