Midlands EMS K9 Rescue Unit, along with Midlands EMS Advanced Life Support paramedics and crews, were dispatched to the N3 southbound just before Tweedie for a truck accident.

On arrival, crews found a truck involved in a serious crash. The driver was severely entrapped, and the rescue operation took over one hour to safely free the patient using specialized rescue equipment. Heavy towing vehicles from Joey’s Towing assisted in lifting the truck, while paramedics provided advanced life support treatment on scene.

Given the severity of the driver’s injuries, a decision was made to call in the Netcare 911 aeromedical helicopter to assist with rapid transport to a Level 1 trauma hospital. The patient was airlifted to a Level 1 trauma hospital for urgent care. The truck’s passenger, who sustained injuries during the incident, was treated on scene and transported by ambulance to a Level 1 trauma hospital.

The combined efforts of Midlands EMS, K9 Rescue, Joey’s Towing, and Netcare 911 ensured timely intervention and rapid transport for the patients. Authorities were in attendance.
