Midlands EMS crews were dispatched to the N3 near Lions River following an incident involving a diesel tanker that left the roadway and rolled down an embankment.
Upon arrival, crews found the driver in critical condition, requiring urgent advanced life support treatment.
Once stabilized, the patient was transported to a Level 1 trauma hospital for further care.
Authorities remain on the scene to investigate the incident.
