A woman was killed this morning when a truck and light motor vehicle collided on the Ventersdorp Road, approximately 15km outside of Potchefstroom.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 07h40 to find both the truck and light motor vehicle on the side of the road. The light motor vehicle was found wedged beneath the front of the truck.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the lifeless body of a woman lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle.
Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries. Nothing more could be done for her and she was declared dead.
The Fire Services had to use specialized rescue tools to later free the deceased from the vehicle.
The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
