The accident occurred right in front of the turnoff to the entrance of the DFW Fire & Rescue headquarters, when the truck apparently jack-knifed, causing a bakkie with 5 workers to crash.

DFW EFAR responders are quickly on site.

The five males who were injured, of which one male, the driver, was entrapped in the bakkie.

Luckily there were no fatalities, yet it could have been so much worse.

There was major damage caused to both the truck and the bakkie. The truck luckily did not damage its tank or lose any of its toxic liquid.

EMS Rescue was also quick on scene to extract the driver.

All the victims were loaded into ambulances of EMS Metro and ER24.

We hope all treated persons recover fully.

Well done to DM Traffic Services and SAPS, who assisted with guiding the traffic and crowd control.

The Sonstraal Road was temporarily closed for recovery purposes from 16h45 until 17h30.

The road is now open for traffic.
