The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Rapid Tactical Response Unit Officers, Bronberg Precinct, and the Brakpan South African Police Service members, apprehended three (3) males between the ages of 28 and 39, for truck hijacking and recovered goods worth an estimated value of R45 000, including a firearm in the Brakpan area.

The EMPD members, received information about a white Isuzu Truck that was hijacked around the Brakpan area. Members tactically followed up the information and the truck was intercepted at Old Location Street Squatter Camp, abandoned with some of the stock (energy drink and cheese), still inside with an estimated value of R25 000.

The Officers then further penetrated the Squatter Camp and found three male suspects, inside a shack with the offloaded stock (energy drinks and cheese), estimated at R20 000 and one firearm, a 9mm Berretta.

The manager was summoned, and he checked all the stock, and it was handed over to him. The suspects were arrested and detained at Brakpan Police Station for Hijacking, possession of unlicensed firearm and possession of suspected stolen goods and will soon appear at the relevant Magistrate Court.
