The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Pedestrian Unit arrested 31 individuals on N1 and N4 and charged them for a pedestrian source of danger on Saturday, 20 December 2025.
There is a worrying trend of hiking on the highways. Pedestrians are strictly prohibited on highways as they risk the danger of being hit by fast-moving vehicles.
Furthermore, the TMPD Overload Control Unit conducted safety checks at the Akasia and Centurion weighbridges. Whereby 44 heavy vehicles inspected, 17 were found to be overloaded. Overloading can create serious road hazards.
We are on the festive season peak. The TMPD urges all travelers to do pre-trip inspections on their vehicles before they embark on their journey, adhere to the speed limit, and take breaks when taking long trips.
