Three vehicles, including a truck carrying cargo, have been intercepted during operations aimed at stopping cross-border smuggling attempts along the South Africa-Zimbabwe border.

Members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) from 4 Artillery Regiment recovered two stolen vehicles believed to have been destined for Zimbabwe.

The recovered vehicles include a Toyota Hilux valued at approximately R160 000 and a Toyota Fortuner worth about R630 000, both of which had been reported stolen in Brooklyn.

At the Beitbridge Border Post, soldiers also confiscated a Hino truck valued at R903 563, together with its cargo.

The interceptions took place during the first weekend following the visit of the Inter-Ministerial Committee to Limpopo, as soldiers continue strengthening border security operations.

The Acting Officer Commanding Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo, Lieutenant Colonel Khathutshelo Ramukhithi, praised the soldiers for their vigilance and commitment in combating illegal activities along the border.

Authorities say border operations will continue as part of efforts to address crime and cross-border smuggling.
