Three suspect believed to be part of a theft syndicate were arrested and stolen goods recovered in Cornubia – KZN during a Multi Disciplinary Operation.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), Metro Police & the Verulam SAPS were conducting Crime Prevention Operations when several males were seen transferring bags of rice from a truck into a bakkie.

The suspects fled on foot after they noticed the convoy approaching. First Responders pursued and apprehended the
driver of the truck and two Ethiopian nationals.

It was established that the driver of the truck intended to short deliver a pallet of rice to a customer. He sold the load to the Ethiopian nationals for R7000. They met at an isolated location at the Cornubia Housing Complex and were in the process of transferring the stolen bags of rice when they were apprehended.

All three suspects were placed under arrest and exhibits seized for further investigation.
