On 13 June 2026, members of the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Tactical Unit recovered a hijacked truck and two trailers in separate locations.

The Tactical Unit received information via the Johannesburg Reaction control room that a truck loaded with Castle Lite beer had been hijacked in Silverton. Officers subsequently located two trailers, abandoned and empty, at Bon Accord in a Plot.

Following up on additional leads, members later found the hijacked truck abandoned at the Mabopane Industrial Site. Further investigation revealed the truck’s registration plates had been tampered with; the displayed plate did not match the vehicle’s original registration.

The truck and the two trailers were immediately impounded and taken to the Pretoria West Vehicle Identification Section (VIS) for processing and handling. Investigation are still ongoing to apprehend the suspects.

TMPD Chief of Police, Commissioner YCR Faro, praised the team for their vigilance and swift response in intercepting criminal activity and safeguarding the residents of Tshwane.
