This week, Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing proudly launched the Two Oceans 870 Power Catamaran, a full custom vessel of extraordinary magnitude. Designed by Du Toit Yacht Design and expertly built by Two Oceans Marine entirely to the bespoke requirements of her owners, this 87-foot luxury power catamaran boasts four levels of opulence, setting a new benchmark for craftsmanship and scale in large custom catamaran manufacturing.

The launch of this vessel was a mammoth undertaking, spanning three full days and involving the expertise of dedicated teams from Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing, Teemane Cranes, Yacht Haulers and Du Toit Yacht Design – and impressive support from the various departments at Transnet National Ports Authority.

A custom-designed transport rig able to transport a catamaran of over 80 tons was created specifically by Teemane Cranes to carry the vessel from our factory to the quayside. The operation required the dismantling of port walls and fences to accommodate her size, with the final transfer into the water involving two cranes-a 440-ton and a 250-ton crane. The dedication of all involved ensured a seamless process, culminating in a successful launch.

Impressively, the Two Oceans 870 Power Catamaran holds the distinction of having the largest beam, highest air draft, and greatest displacement (widest, highest and heaviest) of any catamaran ever launched and transported on a public road in South Africa, marking a historic achievement in naval architecture and yacht manufacturing in the region.

The Two Oceans 870 Power Catamaran is a true masterpiece, reflecting the finest in luxury yacht design and build. While the commissioning process is now underway, we will share more details and imagery of this incredible vessel in the coming months.
