The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Intervention Unit, Community Liaison Unit (CLU) and Eastern Region Task Team Officers, apprehended two (2) male suspects found in possession of a reported hijacked truck and stolen goods valued at approximately R1.3 million in the Etwatwa area.
Officers received information regarding the location of a white articulated International truck that had been reported hijacked in the Sebenza area. Acting swiftly on the information, Officers initiated a lookout for the vehicle.
With the assistance of a tracking device, which last signalled in Etwatwa, Officers proceeded to the corner of Eiselen Street and Albertros Road. Upon arrival, the Officers found two (2) suspects in the act of offloading goods from the reported hijacked truck.
The suspects both aged thirty-four (34)were immediately arrested and detained at Etwatwa Police Station, facing charges of possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of stolen goods. The suspects are expected to appear before the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court.
