
Three suspects were arrested yesterday after being caught with a truckload full of counterfeit goods and attempting to bribe Police officers with R13 000-00 cash.
Members of Crime Intelligence and the Provincial Tracking Team stop and searched a truck on the N1 North outside Polokwane and discovered counterfeit goods with the estimated street value of between R1.2m and R1.5m.
The truck was thoroughly searched and 1000 boxes containing shoes were discovered. The two drivers of the truck could not give satisfactory answers to prove ownership or the legality of the goods and was arrested. A third suspect who was travelling in another vehicle which was escorting the truck, attempted to bribe the officers with R13 000-00. He was promptly arrested and charged with bribery.
The suspects will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate Court today and Police investigations are still continuing.
