A 31-year-old suspect is expected to appear at the Delmas District Court today, Wednesday 14 February 2024 for possession of allegedly stolen diesel.

A report indicates that on Monday, 12 February 2024 around 05:30, members of Maximum Security were conducting foot Patrols next to the railway line in Delmas when they noticed a white Opel Corsa Utility vehicle with people loading plastic containers at the back.

Upon approaching the vehicle, it is said that the suspects fled the scene using the mentioned vehicle. Law enforcement agencies from POLSEC came on board and assisted in cornering the vehicle.

It was during this period when the suspect was found with 420 litres of diesel. He was apprehended and charged after failing to give a reasonable explanation for the possession of the diesel which is presumably stolen.

His vehicle and the plastic containers with diesel were confiscated.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the arrest of the suspect.
