In continued operations, on Friday, at around 11:00, Benoni Flying Squad members operationalised information of a grey Hilux transporting dagga on the R23, near Tsakane. Members traced the vehicle and pulled it over. The 50-year-old driver was immediately arrested after four large bags of dagga were discovered.
The suspect was further charged with bribery when he allegedly offered members R6 000.00 for his release.
The suspect was detained at Tsakane, while the dagga with an estimated value of around R80 000.00 was booked in as exhibit together with the R6 000.00 cash.
The suspect will appear in the local Magistrate’s Courts, facing charges of possession of and dealing in drugs as well as bribery.
