Soldiers arrest cable thief at Camden Power Station

SA National Defence Force Operation PROSPER (Protection of Eskom Critical Infrastructure).

Joining Forces is indeed resulting in positive results. General Botha Regiment is deployed as part of Operation PROSPER under Joint Tactical Headquarters Mpumalanga at various Eskom Power stations since 16 December 2022.

General Botha Regiment members currently deployed at Camden Power Station have been hard at work in recovering, confiscating and apprehending suspects. On 23 February 2023, the members of Alpha Company were busy conducting Foot patrols at Camden power stations, they were called to reinforce as a backup to assist the Eskom security personnel as 04 x suspects were seen on the CCTV trespassing.

03 x suspects managed to run away and 01 x suspect was arrested, a South African citizen with a Bolt Cutter, Hacksaw and 02 x Cooper Cables in his possession including copper cables that were 20m long and valued at R 8 400.00.
