A six (6) year old Grade one (1) boy was declared deceased by paramedics after he was crushed by a sand truck in Pineapple Street – Waterloo in Kwazulu-Natal at 12:01 this afternoon (Thursday).
The RUSA Medical Division received several calls from residents in the area seeking medical assistance after noticing a child being crushed by the truck. Paramedics arrived on scene minutes later and found a child lying under a Mercedes Benz 1513 six-meter sand truck. A Bell grader was parked behind the vehicle. The child suffered extensive injuries and was declared deceased by Medics.
According to bystanders, a group of children were hanging on to truck while both vehicles were travelling to a construction site when the Dianthus Primary Scholar fell onto the road and was crushed to death. This version could not be immediately confirmed.
A case of Culpable Homicide is being investigated.
