Kwa-Zulu Natal, at approximately 11H20 Wednesday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious collision on the N2 North bound just before the Nandi drive off-ramp.
Paramedics arrived on scene to find Ethekwini Fire & Rescue, Metro Police, SAPS as well as various ambulance services in attendance.
Reports from the scene indicate that a Heavy motor vehicle pulled off on the emergency lane was in the process of collecting refuse bags when what is believed to be a refrigeration truck drove into the back of the HMV collecting the bags, subsequently another heavy motor vehicle with a crane then drove into the back of the refrigerator truck, a total of six patients were attended to on scene.
Two occupants of one of the trucks needed to be freed from the wreckage using the ” Jaws of Life”
All patients were transported to hospital by various services for further assessment and care.
SAPS was on scene and will be investigating.
