Seven people were killed on the N4 toll road near Middelburg last night around 23h00 in a crash involving a minibus taxi and an articulated truck on the N4 toll road near Middelburg. Six people were seriously injured, and three more people escaped with slight injuries. The deceased includes six passengers and a taxi driver.
It is alleged that the crash happened when the taxi seemingly lost control and overturned. It was also hit by the truck. The taxi was reportedly pulling a trailer, and it was travelling from Johannesburg to Mozambique.
All the injured were rushed to hospitals in Middelburg for further medical attention. The driver of the truck was not harmed.
It is not clear what caused the crash, but an investigation is already underway.
