The Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Ernest Rachoene monitored the service delivery acceleration programme implemented through the #DikgerekgereWednesday programme on road D977 just outside Polokwane, in the Capricorn District.
The 12 kilometres road connects villages such as Ga-Maja, Mothiba Ngwana-Mago and Ga- Mothapo to Polokwane City through the Silicon road D977.The MEC was joined by the Tribal Authority from Mothiba wa Ngwanamago.
This is the Provincial road which a portion of it was recently upgraded by the Polokwane Municipality from Ga- Thaba village leading to town.
The two spheres of government partnered as part of bringing the District Development Model into practice.
This was part of the memorandum of Agreement signed between the Roads Agency Limpopo, an entity of the Department and the Municipality in order to ensure that the road is drivable.
MEC Rachoene today led the Dikgerekgere team to regravel the remaining portion which is still unpaved as upgrades are being done in phases.
This is an important initiative that ensures that all roads are continously being maintained to make them drivable.
