A suspect was apprehended and a firearm containing blank rounds was recovered by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) in Mt. Edgecombe – KZN today (Sunday).
Reaction Officers were called out to a business premises in the area after employees noticed a customer behaving in a suspicious manner. At one point he removed the firearm from his waistband but replaced it when other customers entered the premises. Staff believed that he intended on robbing them.
Reaction Officers viewed CCTV footage and obtained a clothing description of the male. While patrolling the area, Officers spotted him walking along Burnside Place. He discarded the weapon and fled on foot. RUSA Members pursued the man an apprehended him hiding between trucks & trailers on Marshall Drive.
The suspect and the firearm were handed over to the Phoenix SAPS for further investigation.
