
The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Northern Region Task Team Officers, with the South African Police Service (SAPS) Ekurhuleni Crime Intelligence Unit, apprehended two male suspects and R9 Million worth of reported stolen goods, with the hijacked truck, were recovered.
Acting on a tip-off from a reliable source, about a suspicious white Mercedes Benz rigid truck parked in one of the houses, on Malaka street in Mamelodi, Law Enforcers advanced and a 19-year-old found on the premises with a sought truck, was interrogated. The house occupant, who alleged that the truck belongs to his stepfather, allowed Officers to search the parked truck and a brand new variety of motor vehicle parts, were found.
The truck was tested and the revelation was, it was reported robbed/hijacked from the owner two weeks ago, in the Kempton Park area by Bredell. Not long, the 57-year-old Stepfather, who made an attempt to flee, arrived on the premises and both suspects, facing charges of ‘possession of a robbed/hijacked vehicle and possession of stolen goods’, were taken to the Mamelodi West police station.
The detained pair, is expected to appear at the relevant Magistrate’s Court soon. All the recovered goods, including the reported robbed truck, were confiscated and taken to the police station, for thorough investigations. More arrests, are imminent.
