Just after 02h00 on Wednesday morning Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a collision involving a heavy-duty vehicle on the N1 northbound near the John Vorster off-ramp.
Reports from the scene are that an articulated vehicle and an SUV had collided, leaving the roadway, overturning before crashing into a steel support structure.
The driver of the SUV was found to have sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on arrival of paramedics, whilst the passenger suffered minor injuries only.
