Three suspects aged between 24 & 34 were arrested during a Tri-Lateral Crime Prevention Operation at a roadblock yesterday, 28 March 2018, held at the N1 weighbridge in Colesberg.
One suspect was found to have stashed illicit cigarettes cartons behind the panel van with an estimated street value of R2 000 000. Other suspects were found to be driving an Isuzu bakkie, upon closer inspection it was established the identification marks have been tampered with. In the process, while members continued with the roadblock an undocumented person was arrested and charged under Immigration Act for being in the country without valid documents, in the process it was also discovered that his bakkie was loaded with bicycles which he could not prove the ownership thereof. The bicycles were confiscated and he was also arrested.
During the roadblock the members found abandoned compressed dagga to the value of R39 000. Some of the suspects appeared before the Colesberg Magistrate’s Court Yesterday, 28 March 2018, while other suspects shall appear today. #PoliceVisibility
