
Operation Paseka integrated with Operation Shanela disruptive actions were executed throughout the Northern Cape Province from Monday, 07 April 2025 until Sunday, 13 April 2025 to address priority crimes in hotspot areas.
These actions resulted in the arrest of 274 perpetrators for serious crimes, and several items such as alcohol, drugs and dangerous weapons were removed from the streets.
Forceful actions, including stop and search actions, vehicle check points, roadblocks, and high visibility patrols, were conducted across all five districts to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors to the province.
Suspects were apprehended for the commission of crimes, including dealing in drugs, murder, attempted murder, rape, assault GBH, robbery and burglary.
This included the execution of tracing operations by detective teams to trace offenders who have been evading arrest.
A total of 10 Malawian nationals were also arrested in Port Nolloth with the assistance of Immigration officials, who are unlawfully in the country.
During the said actions, a total of 6 733 individuals and 3 818 vehicles were stopped and searched.
Additionally, compliance inspections were carried out at liquor outlets, second-hand goods dealers, scrapyards, recyclers, and informal businesses, leading to the closure of numerous unlicensed liquor outlets and the confiscation of significant quantities of alcohol. Home brewed concoctions were also destroyed during these inspections.
During this period there were also numerous community engagements involving community policing structures.
This past week also seen the convergence of different law enforcement agencies and departments converging at various churches in the province to pray for our members who will be executing duties during this period of Easter.
