MasterDrive is launching the inaugural Fleet Safety Awards. Nominations opened at the beginning of March and we have already seen an unexpected influx of worthy companies and fleet managers. Enthusiasm and support of the awards is such that MasterDrive has decided to extend the closing date for nominations.
The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says as this is the first event, we are encouraged to see more than 100 companies and individuals already entered. “Once the initial deadline was here, requests from various companies were made to extend the deadline.
“As the awards are intended to honour companies dedicated to improving road safety and encourage more to do the same, we have listened to the call for an extension. MasterDrive does not want to prejudice any organisation that may have not been able to meet this deadline.”
The new date by which entries need to be submitted is midnight on 1 April 2022. “This provides companies with an extra week and a half to submit worthy fleet managers to potentially win the first prize of R10 000 or to nominate their own or another organisation to immortalise their road safety efforts on a floating trophy and in the Hall of Fame.
“MasterDrive encourages all organisations to use this time to submit their nominations. Following this our expert panel of judges needs to make the decision based on the additional information supplied by entrants that make it through to the next round. To ensure that each round has an adequate and fair amount of time, 1 April 2022 is the latest that nominations can be accepted.”
As the first-of-its-kind, the Fleet Safety Awards represent a new phase in road safety in South Africa. “We look forward to the potential the awards hold and giving recognition to organisations that play a role in creating safer roads while encouraging others to do the same.”
