A resident contacted the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Operations Centre requesting assistance. The caller could not confirm if the occupants were entrapped in the vehicle.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Paramedics were immediately dispatched and on arrival, found a white Mitsubishi FUSO truck
lying on its side. Several building blocks and pockets of cement were strewn across the road. The four occupants managed to free themselves from the wreckage prior to the arrival of First Responders.
The driver informed Reaction Officers that he provides a cartage service to individuals patronising hardware stores. He was transporting 350 building blocks & 20 pockets of cement to Tea Estate in Inanda – KZN when the truck failed to climb a steep hill. It began to roll back down the road, climbed an embankment and overturned.
The driver, two assistants and his customer were in the vehicle at the time, but were not injured.
