Just after 15:15 on Thursday afternoon ALS Paramedics responded to a serious multiple vehicle crash on the M4 South Bound before Edwin Swales, South of Durban.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos as they found that a loaded truck had somehow lost control and ploughed into approximately five light motor vehicles. Immediately more

Ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics were dispatched to assist. A triage system was set up by initial responders.

A total of Five people had sustained various injuries ranging from moderate to critical. One of the drivers was in a critical condition and Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilize him on the scene by placing him on a ventilator before rushing him to the Ahmed Al-Kadi Private Hospital for the urgent care that he required. The remaining patients were stabilized on scene before being transported to various Durban Hospitals for further care. The truck driver was uninjured.

Traffic was severely affected whilst emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.

At this stage the events leading up to the crash is unknown however SAPS and Metro Police were in attendance and will be investigating further.
