The high density operation conducted in Sabie by members of the South African Police Service, Department of Community Safety Security and Liaison, Community Policing Forums, Thaba Chewu Municipal Law enforcement and private security companies resulted in the confiscation of mining equipment and the arrest of 18 suspects for various offences.
The suspects were arrested for charges ranging from obstruction of police officials, possession of substances believed to be dagga, sleeping in business premises as well as Contravention of Immigration Act.
The seized equipment include detonators, explosive gel, blasting cartridges, phendukas, gas bottles and various other items.
