A man in his 30s was killed early this morning after a truck and light motor vehicle collided on the R501, 3km outside of Carletonville.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 01h30 and found a wrecked light motor vehicle on the side of the road. A truck was also found parked on the side of the road.
On assessment, paramedics found the lifeless body of a man lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle.
Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on scene.
Rescue services had to later use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the deceased from the vehicle.
The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
