N3, KwaZulu-Natal Province: During every hour of need, we offer to be on the side of vulnerable members of society.
The impact of climate change is being felt by everyone, as we just experienced heavy snowfalls, which created havoc and left motorists and passengers stranded.
Around lunchtime, I will interact our dedicated and hardworking Drivers of Motor Graders. We are making the final push to clear the snow and ensure the free flow of traffic and movements of goods on our roads.
We invite members of the media to attend as follows:
Date : 23 September 2024
Venue : Montrose N3, Shell Ultra City
Time : 13h00
We remain determined to ensure that through our road networks, this province plays one of the leading roles in the creation of a better future for our country and our province.
Having the largest ports of Durban and Richards Bay, the economy of our province is indivisibly intertwined with that of our different provinces and neighbouring countries.
Therefore, our road infrastructure is being developed, maintained, and rehabilitated to support economic growth in several provinces.
These provinces will succeed because KwaZulu-Natal played a part in their growth and success.
Importantly, as announced last night, we are steaming ahead with the development and modernization of other modes of transport, especially rail transport, both freight and passenger.
We do this in order to facilitate greater mobility of goods to and from our two busiest ports.
Finally, there are communities that were affected by the heavy snowfall, and we do not want them to be left behind.
I will be leading a team from Human Settlements as part of the assessment and profiling of affected communities, mostly those that reside in mud structures as well as those in informal settlements.
Where necessary, we will intervene immediately.
All categories of staff understand that we must work collectively to Inspire Hope For a Better Future.
