Modus Operandi:
At approximately 21h05, the driver of the truck experienced a brake air pressure loss and stopped to inspect the issue. A suspect, armed with a “black-ish” firearm, approached the driver and directed him to the rear of the vehicle. The driver was then overpowered by two suspects who tied his hands behind his back and restrained his legs using shoelaces. The suspects indicated their primary interest was the load of coal.
The driver was forced into a white club-cab pickup, and communication between the suspects and their cohorts occurred via telephone. The driver was left stranded near Kwagga Optimum Mine, in the R104 Arnot-area.
