
A hijacked white Hyundai H100 bakkie was recovered by the RUSA Robinson R44 helicopter during an aerial search in Osindisweni – KZN a short while ago (Tuesday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance from private security company Project 360 requesting assistance to track the bakkie that was hijacked by two (2) armed suspects.
The driver and conductor were locked in the rear of the bread delivery vehicle before the suspects sped off.
The RUSA Robinson R44 Helicopter was conducting an aerial patrol of the north coast of Durban – KZN when the Pilot In Command was routed to search for the sought after vehicle. At approximately 10:39, the Pilot spotted the vehicle on an unpaved.
He communicated with Reaction Officers on the ground and directed them to the location of the sought after vehicle. Officers freed the driver and his colleague who were still locked in the canopy.
The victims stated that the suspects robbed them off their wallets and cellphones.
They believe that the robbers fled prior to tampering with the safe in the vehicle due to the helicopter search.
