A Toyota Hino truck that was hijacked at the R102 & M65 intersection abeam King Shaka International Airport – KZN was recovered on an unpaved road in Mount Moreland – KZN.

A passerby who witnessed the hijacking contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance at approximately 15:51. According to the caller, three men were forced out of the truck by an armed male. A blue Renault Triber thereafter followed the truck towards Verulam – KZN. The passerby followed the Renault Triber to Mountview – KZN but lost sight of the vehicle.

All available Reaction Officers were dispatched and conducted an extensive search for the suspects suspect’s vehicle without success. Officers received information that the sought-after truck was abandoned on an unpaved road in Mount Moreland.

RUSA Members proceeded to the location and met with Security Officers from a private Security Company who located the vehicle while patrolling the cane fields. The driver and his two assistants were deployed at RUSA HQ after they flagged down a passing motorist.

No injuries were reported.
