At approximately 21:36 on 7 October 2026 members of Empire Protection Services proceeded to the N2 above the M25 KwaMashu Off Ramp following a callout received via the North Coast Tracking Task Team regarding a horse truck and trailer that had reportedly been hijacked and tracked to the area

Upon arrival at the location members discovered a white Volvo FH440 horse truck abandoned on the yellow shoulder reservation of the N2

Upon further inspection it was established that the vehicle was the horse truck reported in connection with the hijacking

Unfortunately the Superlink trailer that was attached to the truck was not located at the scene and its whereabouts remain unknown at the time of this report

Members then conducted an inspection of the cab of the vehicle

Upon entering the truck the driver was discovered bound inside the vehicle and in an advanced state of decomposition

Emergency medical personnel were requested to attend the scene

Upon arrival paramedics assessed the driver and unfortunately declared the driver deceased at the scene

The scene was subsequently handed over to the South African Police Service SAPS for further investigation and the necessary forensic and criminal procedures

Empire Protection Services would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all emergency personnel security companies tracking teams towing services and SAPS members who assisted in securing and managing the scene

A special thank you to all involved
