Operation Vhuthu Hawe was conducted on 26 April 2024 from 09:30 to 14:00 led by Captain Lefu Thamae, Station Commander of Ventersburg who was the Operational Commander. The following Police Stations and departments were involved, Ventersburg, Verkeerdevlei, Winburg, Welkom Public Order Policing, Department of Home Affairs, Provincial Traffic and South African National Defence Force.
When addressing the parade, Captain Thamae outlined the purpose of this Operation which was to conduct heightened police visibility through blue light patrol, stop and searches, vehicle checkpoint and a roadblock.
Ventersburg CBD saw heightened police visibility at the truck stop and Mmamahabane. The team also conducted a roadblock on the N1 highway road.
A total of five traffic related fines were issued, nine undocumented persons were arrested and 211 vehicles and 195 persons searched.
